Transfer Talk

Transfer Talk

Over the last couple of months I've been following all the various football transfer talk and rumours circulating around, in particular anything relating to cash-stricken Liverpool, and it's all very intriguing.
A lot of it is, of course, bullshit, but interesting nonetheless.

Johnson To Anfield

Liverpool have just signed defender Glen Johnson from Portsmouth, to the delight of myself and many other Reds fans I'm sure. Following his excellent form at Portsmouth he has established himself as an England regular for the national team and will be welcome at Anfield, following some shocking lapses in defence last season, costing us some of those points which lead to our loss to those scum over at Old Trafford in the title race. With bids being made by Rafa Benitez for other defensive players from around the globe, it's clear he is looking to bolster our defence which let us down somewhat last season in time for next season, where we will be looking to be contenders for the EPL crown, one which we have not seen in many years.

Also surprisingly, the odds that Ribery will come to Liverpool have been slashed overnight, with many people now betting that the Munich winger will end up at Anfield. Now, I had never even considered this as a possibility, following our stupid fucking American owners being approximately 50 million pounds in debt, and left with no money to fund our transfer ambitions for this transfer window. But having said that, something very similar to this happened the day before Owen moved Manchester United, with the odds that he would do so extremely high untill the afternoon before the move was announced. On that matter, I personally think that it was unwise of Rafa not to take the chance of re-signing Michael Owen on a free transfer. I think that despite a shocking spell at Newcastle, Michael still has something left to give, and given our current financial situation, it to me seems like an opportunity which should not have been passed up.

Perth Glory's Three Socceroo Signings
It's good to see Glory are making some fairly big signings it an attempt to add to their squad and maybe have a shot at top spot in the A-League next season. Glory just recently signed Chris Coyle, their third Socceroo signed this transfer season, following the signings of Mile Sterjovski and Jacob Burns. Coyne hopes to make the World Cup squad for next year, and feels he will been seen more in his hometown of Western Australia. At Perth Glory he will be partnered with his brother, Jamie Coyle, who is currently the captain of Glory.
I look forward to following Perth Glory's progress next season, which I havent done so much in previous seasons, and hope to see them perform well.
